SANTO DOMINGO — Police in the Dominican Republic detained a woman following a karaoke performance of the national anthem that authorities said was delivered at an inappropriate tempo.
According to officials, the arrest followed a complaint regarding the performance during a public karaoke event. Authorities stated the anthem was completed but did not meet expectations regarding its customary pace.
The Dominican national anthem typically lasts approximately ninety seconds when performed at standard tempo. Officials did not specify how quickly the song was performed or what duration would have been considered acceptable.
The woman was later released. No charges related to musical timing have been publicly clarified.
Authorities have not issued formal guidance for future karaoke performances.
